Tanzania is losing between 350000 and 400000 hectares (915,000 acres) of forests every year, a significant portion of it for business i.e furniture (Tanzania Forests Services Agency, 2019)
Furthermore, Around 60% of the furniture produced and sold in the country and consuming around 300,000 tons of lorries everyday poses a major threat to the future of the environment in Tanzania.
However, in Tanzania 70% of the population (motorcycles, cars, aeroplanes, bicycles, lorries, buses) use automobiles as means of their transportation which produces 15,000 tons of waste tires in the environment yearly. In decades upto wood has been a major source of furniture business. To a large extent this has put more pressure on deforestation and climate change impacts.
